BroadPark is a new generation portal for exciting and broadband demanding content. With its brand new search engine for broadband content, it represents a revolution in media distribution and consumption. It is now available not only to NextGenTel-customers, but for the whole broadband universe.
The main objective for BroadPark is to present new and exciting broadband content in an easy to use manner for our customers.
BroadPark today is a unique search engine for broadband content utilising tens of thousands of metadata that are supplied to BroadPark from our content partners on a continuous basis. It is better for the customers to use our search engine to find their movie, instead of having to visit several different websites to find the movie.
NextGenTel has entered many partnerships with content owners, like for instance TV 2, NRK, SF Anytime, Musicbrigade and others. TV reality shows like the BigBrother are hand in glove for broadband TV. Typical for this is the fact that more content is being produced than what can be sent through television alone. The NextGenTel Contents- and Media department successfully completed the first large-scale European live digital rights management implementation during BigBrother 2003.
NextGenTel is the first broadband company in Norway to offer live streamed TV signals to PC. Our customers can through BroadPark see different channels like Travel Channel, EuroNews, Fashion TV, Al Jazeera and the Pakistani channel ARY Digital, our most popular TV channel.
BroadPark – the broadband portal – offers our customers great excitement at great speed!
The NextGenTel network is based on pure IP and MPLS technology and is dimensioned for supporting at least 500,000 customers. It supports triple-play services like IPTV and VoIP as well as MPLS-VPN.
The network consists of approximately 850 DSLAMs located in approximately 450 Local Exchanges in Norway. The numbers are steadily increasing due to continuous build-out programs.
NextGenTel is the largest operator on the Norwegian Internet Exchange (NIX) measured in traffic volume. International traffic partners are Global Crossing and Telia providing full redundancy.
By using mainly dark fiber between our nodes, we are in a unique position to scale the network quickly and independently.
NextGenTel has full 24/7 surveillance of all network elements with automatic reporting to OAM personnel in the event of disturbances.
The Founders decided at an early stage to form a key strategic partnership with Cisco, whereby Cisco's network solutions and infrastructure were procured. Together with Cisco, the Company set out to build a network combining limited investments and low operational and maintenance costs with a simple network hierarchy, sufficient operational flexibility and built-in scale-ability. The NextGenTel network is branded "Cisco Powered Network", which is exclusively for only 1 % of Cisco customers and partners worldwide.
Other important partners are Alcatel, Siemens, Relacom, TelNet, Ementor, IBM, Telenor, BaneTele and Song Networks.
NextGenTel also forms partnerships based on specific products like Microsoft’s XBOX Live, where NextGenTel is an official live partner.
The web site www.nextgentel.no is NextGenTel's primary sales channel. A channel characterized by low touch (cost efficient, automatically orders and "no hassle" for customers or company). The web sales channel also represents a powerful information resource for NextGenTel as potential customers perform telephone number checks in order to test if they "qualify" for NextGenTel broadband access.
NextGenTel's web also acts as a gateway to the NextGenTel call centre. The interaction between these two sales channels represents a cost efficient and user-friendly solution and is NextGenTel's primary sales tool.
The call centre is divided into a residential and corporate department. Each department has the required skills and has been educated to handle specific customer needs of the different customer segments.
NextGenTel has connected around 120 local dealers and some national partners in the Dealers and Partners department. This arrangement significantly expands NextGenTel's sales reach. The partners and dealers have the advantage of local knowledge and high touch.
National accounts are "top 500" companies, often seeking home pc solutions or broadband solutions for retail shops, hotels and so forth. NextGenTel currently has several such national accounts.
The service providers deliver their applications and access in one bundle to their customers, and therefore buy access on behalf of their customers.
NextGenTel provides broadband access to residential users through home pc contracts. NextGenTel has won a large number of home-pc contracts together with its partners.
